Garden Party Baby Shower

When one of your favorite photographers and good friends is pregnant, you can’t help but get excited to plan her a baby shower, especially when it means working with some of your other favorite vendors in the process. This is exactly how we felt when we were able to plan a baby shower for the lovely, sweet, and radiant Laura Murray with the help of Robyn from Bare Root Flora and Sarah with Sarah Box Photography.

Mama to be, Laura, loves florals so The Denver Botanic Gardens set the scene perfectly for the “Garden Party” theme and the Mosaic Garden was so quaint and open and allowed for a great setting to eat, drink and socialize with everyone.  We used one of Laura’s own travel photos, of a beautiful garden gate, for the back of the invitation. We then used a watercolor app to give her photo the soft look we wanted for the invite and Calligrapher Megan Tidwell designed and lettered text.

Simple, colorful and delicious food from one of Laura’s favorite restaurants made for a beautiful display, as did the pretty desserts in miniature, thoughtfully provided by Laura’s mom and sister. Each delicious dish was labeled with sweet, hand-painted signage by Lana’s Shop.

We wanted to keep things simple so we decided to skip the games and present opening in favor of conversation and wandering the gardens, but we couldn’t resist doing an interactive guest book. Guests gave advice or congratulations on vintage postcards from places that Laura has traveled. The postcards will be randomly mailed to the parents during baby’s first year.

It was a perfect afternoon in a sundrenched little paradise in celebration of a glowing mama to be!

The Gathered Table Shoot Featured on Style Me Pretty

Happy Thanksgiving!! I am so grateful on this day to be spending it with family in California and also to share some inspiration with you! This shoot is being today on Style Me Pretty! Click here to see the link.

Style Me Pretty Feature

An integral part of a wedding celebration is the gathering of loved ones around a table to share food and drink. We were inspired by the belief in the power of good food and good drink to connect people as family, friends, and a community—and what more could one ask for in the celebration of a new marriage? In this intimate shoot, we wanted to highlight this idea.

The Kitchen Denver Styled Shoot_Submission

One of Denver’s most celebrated restaurants, The Kitchen, served as the perfect venue for this gathering. One of The Kitchen’s missions is to create community through food—the name of the restaurant was chosen for its desire to act much like the kitchen in one’s home, a center of conversation and connection. We extended the feelings and warmth of the home kitchen to all areas of this wedding and brought in elements of cooking and beautiful edibles to serve as the backdrop for the celebration.

A Vintage Affair Events The stationery was designed and calligraphed by Sally Balt of la Happy in pencil on off-white cotton Crane paper with hand deckled edges to give the paper goods a delicate, soft feel. The calligraphy was done in a modern, fresh, organic style. The invitation set includes cotton paper backed in taupe ticking fabric, hand stitched together. The napkins were made out of the same ticking fabric to give everything a cohesive look.

The table runner was made out of soft peach chiffon, which allowed the richness of the wood table to come through. To incorporate the feast right into the flowers, Bare Root Flora paired a gorgeous variety of blooms, including antique hydrangea and lush sahara, geraldine and mother of pearl roses, with all sorts of lush edibles, including artichokes, kale, pomegranates, persimmon, and lavender in a white porcelain vase. Accents of black privet, peruvian apple, and kiwi vine gave the centerpiece lush, yummy texture. Bud vases of rosemary and lavender and loose persimmon branches and pomegranates gave the entire table a harvest feel.

A Vintage Affair Events  For signature drinks we did a Raspberry Moscow Mule (ginger beer, a Colorado vodka, lime, and raspberries) and a Fancy Fig (prosecco, A Colorado Vodka, Figs, and Thyme). As favors, we wrapped French Apple Tarts in parchment paper and included sweet recipe cards so guests could give them a try at home.

A Vintage Affair Events The Kitchen Denver Styled Shoot_Submission12  At its heart, a wedding really is a celebration of abundance–of love, family, food and memories. We hope this shoot will inspire couples as they create their own fabulous feasts.
