River Bend Wedding Inspiration

This River Bend Wedding Inspiration was full of bright, warm colors, organic elements, and touches of elegance flowing within every detail. The landscape of the Lyons River Bend was so serene and peaceful allowing every colorful detail to emerge. Surrounded by a huge cliff and a gentle river, River Bend helped create a relaxing and inspiring environment throughout the day.

When it came to flowers, Robyn from Bare Root Flora wanted something lush, gorgeous and wild to complement the incredible beauty of River Bend. We wanted a fresh and lovely spring color palette with an added hint of deeper tones for a bit of moodiness and sophistication. Textural pincushion protea, artichokes and figs were a perfect contrast for softer blooms–peonies, ranunculus, roses, sweet peas, poppies, azalea and perfect parrot tulips. Gorgeous olive, eucalyptus and plum foliages gave the flowers beautiful movement. The element of terra cotta added an earthy feature and was a perfect foil to the cliff walls reaching high above the river.

The stationary and calligraphy created by La Happy Design & Calligraphy were beautiful and delicate. We loved the watercolored honeycombed shaped place cards that tied around the napkins with a silk ribbon as it added a subtle yet creative element.

The patterned table runners added a bold modern touch to the soft delicacies of the timeless accessories. We used weathered candle holders and vintage skinny taper candles to complement the color palette.

Megan from Megan Joy Cakes designed the perfect cake to accent the honeycomb shape that inspired this whole design.

A huge thank you to all involved, including Liz Wegrzyn for gorgeous hair and makeup, A and Bé Bridal Studio for sharing the lovely Rebecca Schoneveld dress with us, Allwell Rents for the table, and the model, Katrina Grosz.

Farm Table Round Up

I love wood farm tables. I think they can really make a wedding. I get asked a lot about if I carry them. One of the reasons I decided not to carry them in my inventory is because there is already quite of few companies here in Colorado that do!  I decided I would share this list with all of you out there looking for them. Each picture is followed by the vendor you can rent them from. Enjoy!

The Gathered Table Shoot Featured on Style Me Pretty

Happy Thanksgiving!! I am so grateful on this day to be spending it with family in California and also to share some inspiration with you! This shoot is being today on Style Me Pretty! Click here to see the link.

Style Me Pretty Feature

An integral part of a wedding celebration is the gathering of loved ones around a table to share food and drink. We were inspired by the belief in the power of good food and good drink to connect people as family, friends, and a community—and what more could one ask for in the celebration of a new marriage? In this intimate shoot, we wanted to highlight this idea.

The Kitchen Denver Styled Shoot_Submission

One of Denver’s most celebrated restaurants, The Kitchen, served as the perfect venue for this gathering. One of The Kitchen’s missions is to create community through food—the name of the restaurant was chosen for its desire to act much like the kitchen in one’s home, a center of conversation and connection. We extended the feelings and warmth of the home kitchen to all areas of this wedding and brought in elements of cooking and beautiful edibles to serve as the backdrop for the celebration.

The Kitchen Denver Styled Shoot_Submission1

A Vintage Affair Events The stationery was designed and calligraphed by Sally Balt of la Happy in pencil on off-white cotton Crane paper with hand deckled edges to give the paper goods a delicate, soft feel. The calligraphy was done in a modern, fresh, organic style. The invitation set includes cotton paper backed in taupe ticking fabric, hand stitched together. The napkins were made out of the same ticking fabric to give everything a cohesive look.

La Happy Stationary

The table runner was made out of soft peach chiffon, which allowed the richness of the wood table to come through. To incorporate the feast right into the flowers, Bare Root Flora paired a gorgeous variety of blooms, including antique hydrangea and lush sahara, geraldine and mother of pearl roses, with all sorts of lush edibles, including artichokes, kale, pomegranates, persimmon, and lavender in a white porcelain vase. Accents of black privet, peruvian apple, and kiwi vine gave the centerpiece lush, yummy texture. Bud vases of rosemary and lavender and loose persimmon branches and pomegranates gave the entire table a harvest feel.

A Vintage Affair Events  For signature drinks we did a Raspberry Moscow Mule (ginger beer, a Colorado vodka, lime, and raspberries) and a Fancy Fig (prosecco, A Colorado Vodka, Figs, and Thyme). As favors, we wrapped French Apple Tarts in parchment paper and included sweet recipe cards so guests could give them a try at home.

A Vintage Affair Events The Kitchen Denver Styled Shoot_Submission12  At its heart, a wedding really is a celebration of abundance–of love, family, food and memories. We hope this shoot will inspire couples as they create their own fabulous feasts.

The Cartel Studio

Hello lovelies,

Today I want to share about The Cartel Studio. IMG_1775 Steph Wedding-0132 A cool new concept that just opened up here in Denver. The Cartel Studio is an open studio art space with equipment for 3D printing, screen printing, and studio photography. The studio also offers classes (hopefully some wedding geared ones soon!) and services. One of those service is catered towards weddings! For all my craft fearing brides- they will help guide you through the process of creating personalized handmade decorations and gifts! I also think it would be the perfect space to host a wedding crafting night with your girlfriends! I should also mention that they share the space with Wine & Whey…just in case you need some wine while you are crafting away 🙂

Food Truck Fun

Food trucks are becoming more popular out here, and I absolutely love the idea. My favorite food truck is owned and operated by Epicurean Catering. They make the most delicious food! My first experience with this food truck was at Janelle and Jeremy’s wedding back in April, and I just couldn’t get enough of the deep fried doughnuts, actually I couldn’t get enough of all the food, it was all so good! So you can imagine my excitement when I went with a couple to their food tasting and it just happened to be Epicurean’s food truck. It was such a fun experience. We all got to into the food truck and watch Pete make us the food right then and there!

We tried a sampling of a few different items and it was even better than I remembered. We had a few different sliders which were all tasty, but the items of the day that I just couldn’t stop eating? The mac & cheese and sweet potato fries. I know this was only a tasting, but I kept finding the food on my fork somehow. I am normally not an advocate of sweet potato fries, but these are awesome! They add a sweet glaze and then sea salt to make them sweet and salty. The mac & cheese is a combination of a secret sauce, gorgonzola, and bacon. These two items are mouthwatering good!

Not only is the food amazing, but the people are too! Epicurean’s staff members are always so nice and helpful, and they know what needs to be done and how to do it. They are one of the best! Pete, the food truck chef is so friendly and just wants to do whatever he can to make you happy. We really had a great time at the tasting with him!

If ever you’re looking for a less traditional and fun way to serve food at your wedding, a food truck is a great time. And, Epicurean really knows how to do it well!

Romantic & Soft Wedding Inspiration

We are delighted that today a recent shoot of ours is being featured on

Screen Shot 2013-07-25 at 4.29.12 PM  See the feature HERE!

When planning this shoot, we knew that we wanted it be romantic, but still have a soft, natural feel. We chose a beautiful open space park and complemented the location with a number of scenes designed to evoke casual, elegant romance. With our location in mind, we selected green, lavender, blush pink and touches of gold to complement the other elements of the shoot. The whiskey-barrel cake table was set with simple buttercream cakes subtly decorated with fresh flowers and fruit. For favors, were small bread loafs were tied with a delicate lace ribbon and presented on a bed of lavender buds offering a variety of texture, taste, and smell.

For the table scene, we loved the look of mismatched vintage china flanked by vintage silver flatware. The flowers were soft, romantic and beautiful without being overbearing. For those looking to toast the bride and groom, we built a champagne toasting station complete with beautiful bottles, a vintage bar cart and a sprig of lavender in each flute. Throughout the shoot, there are vintage love letters and small touches designed to serve as subtle reminders that love is timeless.  For the hair, there were a few different looks:  We started off with a modern Gatsby retro wave which is very on trend for this wedding season.  Next is something that is here to stay, the fairy tale, braided headband.  This look is romantic, innocent & soft.  Finally, we finished with an unconventional wedding upstyle for the fashion forward bride.  Either embellished with fresh flowers or a decorative heirloom comb, this look is a showstopper.

For the invitations, we couldn’t decide on just one so we did a few.

The rustic love note inspired wedding invitations are inspired by vintage love letters (which compliments the love letters in the shoot). This invitation blends cursive and typewriter fonts for a bold typographical approach on a rustic-textured paper. The main invitation, with an elongated tea-length design, melts your heart with a beautiful quote about love and relationships on the backside. The response postcard has space on the front for a love note, giving the bride and groom a wonderful keepsake to cherish long after the wedding is over. The elegantly layered blush is layered on Kraft paper, this wedding invitation is romantic and feminine. Lastly, the  natural hand drawn kraft wedding invitation is simple and vintage-inspired wedding invitation is purely typographical with a strong hand drawn approach on Kraft paper.

Gelato at a wedding?! I am so there!

On my honeymoon last summer I fell in love with Gelato. I had it at least once a day. It is so fresh and delicious. So you can imagine my excitement when Fior di Latte Gelato (a Colorado based company) contacted me telling me that are now offering their gelato at weddings! I couldn’t think of a better treat for a spring or summer wedding.  Here is just a small sample of their flavors:

Not only is is delicious. It is pretty too! You can rent the display case.

Or also they have portable trays:

I am imaging the yummy gelato with some pretty spoons like these:

Or maybe adding some flare to the cones to make them match the wedding like this:

or displayed in vintage dresser drawers like this:

So much options, but all of which guests will love!
